We welcome campers with tents, pop-up trailers (18', 21', 25') and small pick-up (slide-on) campers. RVs, teardrops, travel trailers, hybrid trailers, and dual-wheeled pick-up campers cannot be accommodated. There are no electrical hook-ups or pumping stations.

Each site is unique.  Some are suitable only for tents, others are suitable for pop-ups or pick-up campers.  Please be sure the site you choose matches the equipment you bring!

Each site can accommodate 2 adults or 2 adults and accompanying minor children.  The person making the reservation must be 21 or older, and must stay at the site.

One vehicle per campsite. Limited overflow parking for a second vehicle is available off-island.

We regret that we cannot allow pets.

Hermit Island Campground is for registered campers only - visitors are not allowed within the campground.

We also rent 3 small cabins on a weekly basis during the regular season.  They can be rented for less than a week in the off-season.  See "Cabins" page for details.

We have 1 yurt available, on site 34E Dune Way.  Prices have not yet been set.

Reserving a Site

Reservation for  stays of 7+ nights as well as the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends (3-day package) can be made beginning in January by mail, and beginning in February by phone. A $125 deposit is required at the time of booking (check only when reserving by mail). Full payment is required for Memorial and Labor Day stays.

For reservations by mail, send us the following information for each requested campsite reservation.  Requests for multiple sites should be sent in the same envelope. For each site requested, include:, address, phone & email

2. type of equipment used (tent, 18' pop-up, etc.)

3. number of adults and children

4. arrival date

5. departure date

6. names of individual campsites requested (5 Boxhaul, 10 Joe's Head, etc.)

Reservations for stays of less than a week can be made beginning in March by phone or by mail.

We do not take reservations for off-season camping. Sites are always available on a first-come, first--served basis.

Cancellations and Changes

Reservations made in Jan. and Feb. may not be shortened. Cancellations will incur a fee of $125 (equal to the deposit).

No refunds will be given for Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend reservations. Reservations for these dates may not be transferred to other dates.

Refunds will be given for reservations of less than a week that are cancelled 7 days or more before the first night.  A fee equal to the amount of the last night of the reservation will be charged.

A fee of $25 will be charged for more than 3 changes to a reservation. (per site, if more than 1 site is reserved)
